6th Post Budget Workshop held for Ghana Parliament from 6-8 March, 2009 at GIMPA PDF Print E-mail
Under the auspices of the Ghana Parliamentary Committee Support Project phase two, the leadership of Parliament with Chairs and Ranking Members of twenty-one committees participated in this year’s post-budget workshop, held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, from 6-8, March 2009. This annual activity is the sixth in a series of annual pre and post budget workshops that have contributed to consensus building in parliament on key policy proposals and fostered more informed debate on the annual budget.

Two-Day Training for Staff of Secretariats and Departments of Parliament, Marina Hotel, Dodowa, 29 November – 1 December, 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The Parliamentary Centre, under the CIDA funded Parliamentary Committee Support Project II organized a two-day training for selected parliamentary staff from four departments of the Ghana Parliament namely Parliamentary Relations, Majority and Minority Secretariats, and Clerk’s Secretariat of Parliament. All these departments offer direct services to the Speaker, Members and Staff of Parliament.

These departments are also mandated to provide administrative and technical support to Parliament and its involvement in the activities of all international affiliated Parliamentary bodies such as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Pan-African Parliament. Unfortunately the needed skills and competencies required to meet such standards are absent and thus the Centre’s objective to carry out this training.

Stakeholders Hold Meeting to Evaluate 1st PAC Public Hearing on AG's Report PDF Print E-mail
Stake-Holders held a meeting on July 19, 2008 at the Greenland Hotel, Swedru , to evaluate the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meetings on the the Auditor General's Report.   This activity formed part of the Financial Scrutiny Project being implemented by the Parliamentary Centre and funded by the the Department for International Development (DFID, UK). The workshop was organised by the Parliamentary Centre in collaboration with the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament of Ghana.

Parliamentary delegation assesses urban poverty, 10-12, June 2008 PDF Print E-mail
 Members of the Gender and Children Committee of Parliament, with their colleagues from a cross-section of committees interacted with different segments of residents in the Greater Accra Region.  The three-day parliamentary outreach, 10-12 June, 2008 engaged (a) fishing community members from Bortianor, Oshiyie, Ada, Kokrobitey and Tsokome; (b) female head porters (“kayayei”) from Agbogloshie Market, Malata markets and others from the Accra Business District; and (c) women, men and youth from Mamobi-Nima community.
