GPCSPII sponsors a Study Tour to Ethiopia by representatives from the LGRD Committee 6th - 13th August

The  Study visits are a part of our activities to strengthen committee work. The GPCSPII  encourages committees to visit other African country to share experiences through interactions with colleague MPs, with CSOs and any other group that can enhance the sharing of best practices and lessons.  A team  of five,  made up of 3MPs,  one Parliamentary staff member and one Parliamentary Centre staff member the week of 7th to 11th  August 2006 interacting with key groups including MPs in Ethiopia to get a better understanding of their decentralization and local governance system. Key issues addressed included the following

  1. Roles of MPs, Committees in the decentralization process
  2.  Institutional development within the framework of the decentralization program
  3. Financing decentralization, Development plans and programmes and the extent of community involvement.
  4.  How Gender disparities are identified and dealt with
  5. How the under privileged are considered and taken care of in the development and administrative processes and programs of the woreda
