What jobs do Parliamentary Committees do? Print

There are mainly Standing Committees and Select Committees of Parliament each of these committees have specific functions clearly stated in the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana. For example:
*The Committee of Selection sees to the preparation and reporting on list of chairpersons, their vice-chairpersons and members of standing committees within first ten days after its appointment.

*The Business Committee proposes for the approval of the House, the business of each sitting and the order it should take.

Other standing committees such as the Appointments Committee and the Gender and Children Committee have their mandates:

On the other hand the Select Committees have oversight responsibilities over specific Ministries, Departments and Agencies. Examples of select committees are:
- Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa affairs. 
- Committee on Health
- Committee on Lands and Forestry
- Committee on Works and Housing
- Committee on Foreign Affairs
