Stakeholders Hold Meeting to Evaluate 1st PAC Public Hearing on AG's Report PDF Print E-mail
Stake-Holders held a meeting on July 19, 2008 at the Greenland Hotel, Swedru , to evaluate the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meetings on the the Auditor General's Report.   This activity formed part of the Financial Scrutiny Project being implemented by the Parliamentary Centre and funded by the the Department for International Development (DFID, UK). The workshop was organised by the Parliamentary Centre in collaboration with the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament of Ghana.

A number of evaluation questions were raised to assess the process which happened on 16-26 October 2007.

The principal objective of this meeting was to discuss in a dispassionate manner the proceedings so far and to work towards improving the performance of the Committee.

Equally important was the need to receive feedback from the other independent governance institutions.

Finally, the forum sought to concentrate on how inputs from the Audit Service could be streamlined to improve the interrogation of respondents at the Committee.

The stakeholders include the membership of PAC , Auditor General's Department, Serious Fraud Office (SFO) , Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Attorney General, Ministry of Finance , Controller and Accountant General's Department GAGD , Internal Audit Agency , Ghana Integrity Initiative and the Parliamentary Press Corps and other Press from outside Parliament.
