With the aim of improving the capacity and understanding of Committee members and their staff with respect to economic directions, financial integrity, gender equality and poverty reduction, a series of responsive initiatives are foreseen to prepare Committees for emerging policy issues, oversight tasks and representation responsibilities as the changing dynamics of governance in Ghana require. Responsive capacity-building initiatives include: - Annual Committee Workshop Retreats that will deal with ongoing and emerging policy concerns, with emphasis on developing cross-partisan committee co-operation and consensus on plans and priorities for work and on improving relations between the committees and relevant key institutions.
- Policy Studies to be commissioned by the Committees on a needs basis from policy institutes in order for the Committees to obtain the data and analysis required and develop the linkages needed to assist in oversight efforts.
- MP Training Initiatives to be identified and developed to respond to existing and emerging capacity gaps as identified by the Committees and needs assessments, including gender awareness training.
- Parliamentary Staff Training Initiatives to build the capacity of Committee clerks and other Parliamentary staff (including research staff) as a key support structure to the Committees.
